When two incredible artists cross paths along the road of life it is destined for nothing short of true art to emerge. Raphaelle Brochet and Philippe Aerts are two such people. They blur the lines when it comes to conventional use of their instruments, focusing on creating a sound scape of experiences rather than just a song. Their music is a cocktail of Carnatic pieces, Bulgarian folk songs, shades of Bebop, Jazz, and undertones of vraie arabic styles. They move flawlessly form one genre to another like water through the cracks, creating stories as they move through a world of sound. Join them as they take you on journey through a world of colours, tradition, rhythm and of course, Jazz.

about

When the round, melodious sound of Philippe Aerts’ double bass meets the light, emotional voice of Raphaëlle Brochet, the result is a duo of remarkable musical complicity. Their first album is a blend of jazz and Indian music.

In June 2015, the singer Raphaëlle Brochet met bassist Philippe Aerts. They connected immediately at a musical level and so created a double bass-vocal duo. In turn soloist and accompanist, Raphaëlle Brochet and Philippe Aerts blur the outlines of the standard repertoire of their instruments to create a distinctive soundscape fed by their respective experiences.

This first album is a cocktail of Carnatic music (classical music from Southern India), Brazilian music, Jazz and Arabic styles. The duo passes from one genre to the other with surprising ease, creating stories through this world of sounds. A journey through a world of colours, traditions, rhythms and, of course, jazz and improvisation.
